Peruvian Apple Rocoto
A very large, very thick, and very different rocoto variety. While, most- if not all- Rocoto have some kind of fruity/topical taste and smell, this particular variety is different. In fact, this pepper tastes like vegetable, it reminds you with salary, a hot spicy salary. This medium to low heat pepper is the only pepper in the entire Rocoto family recommended for salads. Why, not only because the taste blends in well with the rest of the salad ingredients, but also this Rocoto is not juicy at all. In contrast, it has firm, crunchy, and dry flesh. The plant is low but expands sideways which may be hanging down if grown in a pot. The plant and pods need long extended growing season for maturity.
