Many varities of piquin are listed under the name “Purple Piquin” some are really big, other are not even in a Piquin shape. This particular variety starts out dark green, turns to deep purple, and ripens to red over an extended period of time. Strong tough plant has the wild pepper growing characteristics on it. Like all piquins, this variety is very hot, sharp, and can be painful to eat. Nonetheless, many chiliheads plant it as edible ornamental pepper.
